Practice intentional self-care this spring
One of my goals this year, arguably the most important one, is to prioritise my self-care. While that may seem evident, I imagine that as a busy entrepreneur you’ll also relate when I say that it’s hard sometimes. It’s not always easy to put ourselves first in a patriarchal world where women are primarily seen as caretakers, especially when you’ve got big dreams and a legacy to build. This is why I want to share with you something that has helped hugely in the past year when it comes to listening to my body and looking after myself: embracing the seasons’ ebbs and flows and adding a seasonal flavour to my self-care.
It’s no secret that our bodies have different needs according to the seasons. Those cycles are necessary for the planet to replenish, rest and reset, and we are no different. We go inward during the winter, requiring more warmth, comfort, quiet space, nutrients, just like these:
- Take a walk in nature
One of my all-time favourite self-care practices (all-year round in fact), taking a walk in nature, is particularly enjoyable in Spring. The flowers blooming, the baby ducks hatching, the birds chirping – the movement, paired with the connection with nature will bring you clarity and joy, guaranteed. Listen to the trees, nature always has so much to say.
- Declutter
That’s right – nothing beats a good old spring clean! Without Marie Kondo-ing your whole house, this is the perfect time to clear a few key areas and feel the energy shift as you create space. Sort your closet in categories: keep, donate, ditch, and make some room! Empty a drawer. Rearrange your office. Welcoming the new requires letting go of the old, and Spring is a wonderful representation of that!
- Buy yourself flowers
Pick up or delivery, planted or cut, the options are endless. And you. Deserve. Flowers. Better yet, you deserve to get yourself flowers. For yourself. As a beautiful act of self-love. So what will it be? Tulips, mimosa, Lily of the valley, crocus, daffodils? I personally love a bouquet of wild spring flowers. And every time I glance at it, I am reminded I am worthy of love – and flowers.
- Sip on a Spring tea
If you enjoy a good cuppa half as much as I do (just ask our Editor-in-Chief!), you’ll know this is an all-year round enjoyable self-care practice. The ritual of preparing your tea, boiling the water, picking your herbs, the infusion’s vapors, the warmth, the wait. It’s so much more than a cup of tea. It’s self-care. Each season has its herbs and consequently its very own teas. Those can support our body’s seasonal needs beautifully. I’ve created the perfect spring blend for detox, Printemps, a delicious floral blend that supports a healthy liver.
What’s one self-care practice you can commit to today? Is it time to sit back, sip on a delicious herbal tea and simply be?
Much love, Amandine xo
