Sex and Cannabis Real Talk
Here, at Bloem & Moi, we like to focus on the empowerment of women.
And what would a female empowerment site be without discussing sex and all its wonders?
Female sexuality is a topic that, like cannabis, has been becoming more and more discussed in both scientific and social communities. After centuries of the suppression of female sexuality, it’s time has finally come to bloom. More and more women are sharing their stories about sex, more and more experiments and data is being collected on the female orgasm, and fewer and fewer women are being shunned for allowing themselves the freedom to enjoy their sexuality.
As such, the topic of cannabis and female sexuality has arisen: What does actually happen when you mix cannabis and sex?
Well, research shows some very mixed results. In one case study, two-thirds of women, who used this magical plant during sex, said that it had a positive effect on their sexual experience; while about 12% claimed it had adverse effects. The rest said it made no difference. In another case study, women reported that cannabis 57% has positive results, with almost 20% claiming it ruined their experience.
From the data acquired, it does seem like you’re more likely to have a great experience mixing sex and cannabis than not. But it is not guaranteed. So why are these results so varied?
It comes down to several reasons:
1. Lack of reliable data
As most of the data that has been collected is from word of mouth, it cannot be wholly trusted. As there were no scientific measures in place during intercourse, it is hard to determine how much of the experience could be attributed to the effects of cannabis. Repeat data is also required to confirm the results. As this was not the case, the data is said to be unreliable.
Without stringent testing measures, it can be hard to say what is a result of the plant, and what is due to individual stimuli. However, as the scientific world is opening up more to female sexuality and cannabis-related effects on the body, it is undoubtable that one day we will have more conclusive results.
2. Sexual satisfaction is a difficult thing to measure
One day sex can feel amazing and the next it might not even register on your radar. This is because human sexuality is temperamental and thus is very difficult to measure. It is also inconsistent from person to person. What one person considers a pleasure point might be a dead zone for another.
There has not been much progress in creating a scientific way to measure sexual pleasure. So all we can depend on are verbal testimonies which, as we’ve established, are unreliable.
3. Cannabis affects people differently
Unless you are a frequent and knowledgeable user, there is no way to fully predict how cannabis will affect you. From personal tolerances to brain interpretations, to body feelings: everyone experiences cannabis in different ways. There is no right or wrong way.
Thus it can be difficult to customize a cannabis experience. Pair this with the limited research we have about human sexuality and you’ve got yourself deep in the bushes without a flashlight.
So what now? Is there any way to quantifiably decide if cannabis can help your sex life if the data is scientifically unreliable and inconsistent?
The honest answer is, no, we cannot. All I can offer is my own experiences mixing cannabis and sex.
My Story
Sex has always been difficult for me.
I am someone who likes to be in control at all times. Sex is one of those few times when I feel like I am losing control and that terrifies me. So much so, that I hardly ever climax, not for lack of my partner’s effort – he’s actually quite amazing – but also when I’m on my own.
What happens is that I mentally pull back from climaxing and stop myself from passing over that threshold, into that illusive place where I render control to the sex gods. I have found that I am so caught up in my head about what sex should feel like and look like that I cannot seem to bring myself to enjoy it.
This has led to a lot of sexual frustration on my part.
My biggest problem during sex was that I was self-conscious: of what my body looked like, of the sounds it made and of the things it involuntarily did. It takes constant reminding that real sex does not look like it does in porn or movies. It does not have to conform to one thing. It does not have to only be done a certain way. The point is to enjoy it and accept it as it is, for what it is.
This is where cannabis has helped me. It calms my anxieties and stays my neurotic tendencies. It helps me to get out of my head and exist in the moment. It allows me to relax and truly feel what is happening in my body. It has helped me to let go and cross that threshold into cosmic pleasure.
Cannabis has changed my sex life. I stumbled upon this discovery by accident, but it has now become a regular part of my sexual practices. I have managed, through experimentation and error, to find a general formula for successful cannabis influenced sexual experience.
Dose
Dosage is very important when trying to customize your experience. I have noticed that, with me, small doses of cannabis are most effective for my sex life, while larger doses almost make me too numb to enjoy it. It also works in the ‘come-down’ stage of a high.
Like with any cannabis experience, it is going to take some experimentation and practice to find out exactly what works for you. This magical plant has helped many women reach their sexual peaks. So take it slow and don’t be one of those who have a bad experience.
Before I leave you wondrous beings to explore this new aspect of your sexuality, I have a few words of wisdom. Just like you would discuss sexual health before intercourse, you need to inform your partner (assuming you’re not doing self-exploration) of your usage. They have the right to know the whole situation before choosing whether they want to be a part of it. Remember, regardless of the situation, consent is important for both parties.
Now go forth my pretties and cross the threshold. Happy space travel!
May all your days be high ones!
